Alison Cross to Get 2018 WGA Paddy Chayefsky Laurel Award

The ‘S.W.A.T.’ producer and ‘Murder in the First’ scribe nets the annual honor.

The Wrtiers Guild of America West has selected longtime guild member Alison Cross as the 2018 recipient of the Paddy Chayefsky Laurel Award for Television Writing Achievement.

The annual kudo, given to a member who’s “advanced the literature of television and made outstanding contributions to the profession of the television writer” will be handed out at the Feb. 11 WGA ceremony at the Beverly Hilton.

“The Board of Directors is truly excited to give this award to such a skilled dramatist as Alison,” said WGAW president David A. Goodman. “She has a long and varied list of credits, but in all her scripts, whether on staff or as the sole creator, you hear the voice of a writer driven by the ideals of integrity and justice. Her impressive body of work has at times influenced society at large, and serves as an inspiration to all writers in the field.”

Cross, currently a producer on CBS drama S.W.A.T., has a lengthy résumé that includes acclaimed telepics Serving in Silence: The Margarethe Cammermeyer Story and Roe v. Wade and recent series work like Murder in the First and Raising the Bar.
