Danielson built Above Average as a digital-centric subsidiary of Lorne Michaels’ Broadway Video.
Comedy Central has a new head of digital.
The cable network has tapped Above Average president Jennifer Danielson as senior vp digital.
In the new role, she will oversee all digital content creation, from short-form series to social videos. She will also work to align Comedy Central’s digital strategy with parent company Viacom. Danielson, who will be based out of Comedy Central’s SoHo offices, will report to executive vp marketing and creative Josh Line.

Comedy Central president Kent Alterman added, “I am tempted to speak about Jen with superlative cliches, because in this case, they are totally true.”
Danielson spent 16 years at Lorne Michaels’ Broadway Video, serving as a producer on 30 Rock and Saturday Night Live. In 2012, she built out Above Average as a digital-centric subsidiary of the production company, which over the last five years has produced such shorts as 7 Minutes in Heaven, Alec Baldwin’s Love Ride and YouTube Red special Jingle Ballin’. Above Average appointed digital veteran Marc Hustvedt as its CEO in June of this year.
